Josh Butler Prepares for Florida Dirtcar Nationals Run

The beginning of February will be the start to the racing season for Josh Butler and Butler Motorsports as Josh will head to Barberville, Florida and race in the 37th annual Florida Dirtcar Nationals. The decision was made at the end of the 2007 that Josh would race his Uncle Mike’s E-Mod at the famous “Volusia County Speedway” for eight straight days in the beginning of February. “We appreciate the support of the Fraley’s at Wildlife Motorsports” said Josh’s dad, Chris Butler. “Those guys, Howard, Darin and Dusty worked a lot over the winter…even during the Holidays…along with my brothers to get the car ready up in Ohio.” The car will spend the last three weeks prior to leaving for Florida down in North Carolina where Josh and crew chief Blake Harris will finalize the preparation.
The team will travel to Florida on Saturday February 2nd and is toying with the idea of a warm up at North Florida Speedway on February 3rd. Either way, the team will arrive in Volusia County on Monday February 4th and get ready to take the ½ mile semi banked clay oval for the first time on Tuesday February 5th. Josh will run the beautifully painted, Boardman License Bureau, Hall Institute, Summitt Communications #11 for the next eight nights and compete against some of the best dirt racers in the country.
Josh Butler on racing in Florida:
“I am really excited about heading to Florida and racing there for the DIRTCAR Nationals. We had a lot of great progress at the end of last year on the dirt, including leading a race for the first time and two consecutive top ten finishes. I know that we are going down there and racing against some of the best racers in the country…but that doesn’t keep me from being optimistic about our chances. We have some realistic goals set for ourselves, but I’m going down there with a plan of really running well. I can’t thank everyone enough for all the work that has been done to get the car ready to race."
