Full Schedule of Asphalt and Dirt Ahead for Josh Butler

Starting this Friday, July 20th, Josh and the Butler Motorsports Team will begin a grueling schedule of Asphalt and Dirt that will see Josh run three different race cars in five states and seven race tracks over a 30 day period. July 20th will be a big day for Josh as he kicks off this whirlwind schedule with a test of his Allison Legacy car…but also a test for the first time in a USAC Midget car. Ed Dellarco (EDS Motorsports) will be hauling a USAC National Midget car from Ohio for Josh to test in Kenly, NC at Southern National Speedway. If all goes well with that test, everyone looks forward to an announcement on Josh’s 2008 plans in the coming months. On the 21st, the team will continue its chase of the 2007 Allison Legacy Championship as they race the Horizon Technologies/Summitt Communications/Conterra Ultra Broadband Monte Carlo on the 4/10 mile oval at Southern National. The race on the 21st will be sponsored by Horizon Technologies and many employees and friends will be on hand to watch Josh and then join together for a company barbeque. Last years “Horizon Technologies Day” at Southern National was a HUGE success and we look forward to sharing the pictures from this year’s event. “We had a tough day at Orange County a couple weeks ago, but Blake has had three weeks to think about the car and make some changes so we are ready to get back into the Legacy Car. We got our first top five ever in the Legacy car last year at Southern National and we hope to put on a good show for all of the Horizon folks again this year. We are really confident every time we go to the track with that car and we are looking forward to a good weekend” said Josh.

The weekend of July 27th is when Josh switches over to the dirt tracks of the Ohio Valley when he races Skyline Speedway, in Stewart Ohio on Friday night with the AMRA tour and then heads to Erie, PA for a Saturday night run in the #52 Boardman License Bureau/Summitt Communications E-mod. Josh’s first AMRA run this year happened on July 3rd at I-77 Speedway in WV and while it was a tough learning experience for Josh…he steadily improved throughout the night. E-mod owner, and Josh’s Uncle, Mike Butler said, “I was truly impressed with Josh’s third run on a dirt track. Keep in mind; competing in an AMRA event, Josh was competing against some of the best modified drivers in the country. Once again Josh demonstrated what a quick study he is and his ability to adapt to a different car and track conditions. While Tuesday night’s results appear less than stellar in the record books, we all left the track feeling very positive about a great consolation race run, where Josh showed his ability to pass cars on a very slick track. I am very confident that we began to lay the foundation for great results in the future. Kathy and I are very excited to be associated with a young man of Josh’s caliber, and thrilled he is driving our racecar.”

After the long drive home from PA, Josh will race the Allison Legacy Car on back-to-back weekends, first on August 4th at Hickory Speedway in Hickory, NC and then on August 11th at Dillon Motor Speedway in Dillon, SC. Josh and his dad will quickly turn around after the race on the 11th and head back to Ohio where Josh will join a number of NASCAR stars (including Dave Blaney, Tony Stewart, Kevin Harvick, Clint Boyer and others) on the 3/8 mile dirt oval of Hartford, OH. While he enjoys every race, Josh is really excited about getting the chance to take the dirt against the sports best on that Tuesday night. “I was really happy with the progress I made in WV while driving the E-mod and I’m really looking forward to running against the NASCAR guys at Sharon Speedway” said Josh. “Dave Blaney has done a ton for me over my racing career and to get the chance to race against him, on a track that he owns, will be one of the highlights for me in racing. Uncle Mike, and the Fraleys (Wildlife Motorsports), have the E-mod working really good and I’m excited about learning more and more about racing on the dirt”

The last race of the 30 day blitz will be a Friday night run at Friendship Motor Speedway in Elkin, NC in the Allison Legacy Car. Josh and the team have run in the top five the last two times they visited Friendship and they hope to continue that success, and close in on the Allison Legacy point’s leader. Below are pictures of the three cars that Josh will be driving over the next 30 days…check back weekly for how things go over the next thirty days.
