We have good and bad news to report from Josh’s first Allison Legacy Race on Saturday March 18th. 31 cars showed up and we thought we were just “okay” in practice. We ended up qualifying 12th out of the 31 cars and thought for our first attempt with the new car that was pretty good. Josh knew that he left a little on the track in turns 3 and 4…he went in too high and lost a little time. We were ½ of one tenth of a second away from having a top 10 qualifying run in our first race.

The race started and by the time we found him a hole, he was 15th…he hung around 11th to 15th for the first 20 laps, including missing a shift on one restart that took us from 11th to 14th. On lap 35 he was running 8th and was the highest running rookie in the race…Josh was catching the 7th place car and maintaining on the 5th and 6th place car. On lap 38, (of 50) with the car getting tighter and tighter every lap, Josh got inside of the seventh place car going into turn one, clipped the apron of the track and the car spun. We got hit by a couple of cars in the spin and damaged the left front suspension and the radiator…in other words…we were done. He ended up 24th…but that in no way shows just how well we ran in our first race.

We have two weeks to fix the car before our next race at Peach State Speedway in GA.
